The plan this morning was supposed to be like yesterday, meet Paul and work and swap cars so I could see Peter. But around 7:30 my heart was jus aching to see him so I asked my neighbor if she would watch Brandon after she took her kids to school. Is way I could see Peter around 9:30am and Paul could see him on his lunch. When I got in the nurse watching him was holding him to keep him calm, apparently our little guy has been noisy all morning because they haven't started his feeds yet, he's only been getting an IV for the past 3 days.
They didnt do much of anything while I visited, i held him for nearly the entire time I was there, he pooped and then I had to put him back in bed to be changed. When Paul was visiting they started his feeds, gave him new doses of medicine, and changed his linens. They also started lowering his oxygen level so he can soon be off to take a bottle of formula.
I decided to continue to pump until Peter comes home, then reevaluate how time consuming it is then, we can save the milk in the freezer and when he can be off the special formula we can give him breast milk from a bottle. The doctor told me this forumula he is on will only be for 4 weeks or so.
I didn't get to Peter until 9:30 last night because of tropical storm lee. The rain was putting a flood on our street, it was to scary to drive in so we waited it out until it slowed down. Peter had a boring visit with me, he slept the entire time and didn't do anything eventful (unlike the night before). His feeds had been unsuccessful, he spit up the first feed and when I got there they just started the second feed. The feeding tube apparently was not positioned low enough in his intestine and it was going in his tummy and he needs to be eased into feeding his tummy (he has never had food in his tummy). His nurse told me shortly after I left he threw up the second feed and that had some bile in it so the are giving him a break tomorrow and will start again on Saturday unless the doctors have a different plan on Friday.
