The Freak OUT
Well today I was rehearsing some music for next weeks performance in Amsterdam and everything was going well, Brandon was in his bouncy chair just being the good baby he is. Well he eventually wanted out of the chair so I let him stand on the bed while I held on to his arms. I then continued to sing to him, but this time I started to sing a song he'd never heard me sing before. Oh my lord, he freaked out, started screaming so loud and so hard that he was making himself choke and hyperventilate. The tears were just pouring out of his eyes. I tired all my "Mommy tricks", nursing, teething ring, patting his back, bouncing him, and walking him around did nothing. I then knew it was a case of "The burp" as of lately Brandon has been getting these burps that sound painful when they come up, he even cried after they happen, which I don't blame him. So i just figured he was hungry and tired. I was prepping him to start napping after the bottle when I turned the TV on. He immediately calmed down and was in a trans. I put him in his bouncy chair and turned on Nick Jr. Now he's back to being normal Brandon who laughs and smiles at everything. Who knew that he was UNDER stimulated. I realized we didn't get any upstairs play time in today, so for the rest of today we'll be concentrating on nap time and then playing on the tummy mat. I really don't want to be that mom that plops her child in front of the TV all the time to calm him down, but sometimes when it's the only thing that works it will just have to do, but I will make sure it's limited.
