Brandon got his first immunization on Thursday for DTAP and Hib. This was 2 shots, one in each leg. The Doctor checked him out and they weighed and measured him. He is measuring very big for a 2 month and the Doctor said she would have guessed him as a 3-4 month old rather than 2 months. But there are no worries because he is mainly breast fed , so he is just growing sooner than normal and there really isn't much concern about his weight, he is just big. He was getting a little hungry during the appointment, so we gave him a bottle and he ate like he normally does, ravenously, and the Doctor was surprised about how quickly he scarfed down the milk.
The immunizations went fine. Brandon, of course, screamed when he got each prick but he was fine within a few seconds. The possible side effects were a fever and soreness in his legs. During the night he did have a low fever ~99 degrees, but nothing too bad. He was more active than normal during the night and we were not sure if it was the heat here or if it was the shot. Either way, we all made it through the night with our sanity and better health.
Today we tried to stay cool by having a picnic. Brandon hung out in his diaper and was very happy. Plus he gets googly eyes from all the grandparents that walk by. It has been very warm here in the Netherlands, so we have been doing our best to stay cool. Brandon doesn't seem to mind the heat, it normally puts him to sleep pretty quickly but we are constantly worried he is too hot... Okay, his majesty beckons for his royal meal.
