Paul took his first business trip since Peter was born this week. Which meant I got a whole 5 days of just me and my boys. The days pretty much blended into night and life was one large routine. I was lucky enough to have our cleaning lady come this week so I didn't have to worry about cleaning house. But one thing I never seems to stay caught up on his laundry. I didn't do the boys laundry for just one week ( I figured I would just let them run out of clothes, which is nearly impossible with their wardrobe sizes) once Paul came home I caught up.
I think the hardest part of being home alone with 2 under 2 is what to do with the crying one while you are feeding, changing, or putting the other one to sleep. Brandon kept waking up at 5am because he refused to eat during the day. That meant I had to make sure Peter was asleep and staying asleep so I could try to get Brandon back to bed, which was a complete failure the first night alone, Brandon was screaming so loud he woke Peter up and they started a duet of screaming (not very pretty) But I feel like by the end of the week I had the boys on a nice routine, there were some things I wish I could do better, such as getting Brandon to talk softer so he doesn't wake his brother. He loves to sit next to me while I nurse Peter so that makes it 101000 times more difficult to put him to sleep. All I have to say is a big thanks to Fisher Price for making baby swings and bouncy chairs. Another big nap time place was the baby carrier.
Paul got home Friday night around 11:30pm, but the weirdest thing was around 10:30 (2 1/2 hours after Brandon went to bed) he started shouting Dada Dada Dada in his room. I didn't check the monitor to see if he was at his window or just laying in bed chanting his name, but he ended up falling back asleep. I just thought it was amazing how he remembered that he was coming home that night, I only told him once, I didn't want to keep talking about Daddy and upset him.
Here are some pictures of Brandon helping Daddy with raking leaves in the front of the house.
